Today, Through HIS Hands (THH) joined the Southeastern Virginia Homeless Coalition. This is a step toward helping us to fulfill one of the more important goals as stated in our Mission Statement.

Yesterday, Through HIS Hands took a huge step towards the launch of its Consulting Program. We were able to give an overview to two local churches on the structure and organization of a successful Community Food Assistance Program. The next step will be to meet with the appointed Volunteer leaders, and give them step by step procedures on how to contact the partnering agencies, and a detailed list of documents necessary to participate in their programs. We will also give them a list of equipment and supplies that will be needed to perform the day to day operation of an efficient CFAP. THH will also suggest the software that will help facilitate the accurate collection of data needed for the partnering agencies records.

We are very excited to announce that we’re partnering with IGNITE Norfolk to help end food securities for ODU students.
Here are a few things we’re looking forward to doing with IGNITE!

2) Relationship with ODU and starting a Food Pantry at IGNITE – to take off in January or February 2016. Our goal is to reach at least 150 students within the first year.
3) Passing out water bottles to students at home football games.
4) Renovate IGNITE building to reach over 200 new students, young adults and young families.
5) Feeding the hungry at a local church once a month.

Today, Clarence Jones Chairman/Director and Fran O’Connell, Executive Secretary Of Through HIS Hands Inc. 501(c)3, dropped off a canned food and nonperishable collection box at The NARO Theater in Ghent. This collection box is for the Food Pantry opening in mid-February.
The pantry is a partnership with IGNITE Norfolk and Through HIS Hands. This pantry is for the students of ODU with food insecurities. For more info on how to donate or help, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 757-905-5452.
THH completed interior renovations on the IGNITE building and supplied refrigeration for perishables.
IGNITE/ODU made the decision to postpone the opening of the Food Pantry due to time needed for proper planning. The date is pending for soft opening for Pantry.
Notified by IGNITE/ODU that the opening for the Food Pantry was put on hold indefinitely, and they assured us they would notify THH of any changes in the status.
THH and IGNITE/ODU scheduled a meeting to discuss the status of the Food Pantry. Three representatives from THH and Pastor Brandon of IGNITE/ODU met and discussed the tentative date for Food Pantry opening. THH advised Pastor Brandon that the opening needed to be in June, in order to be fully operational by the fall semester for the ODU students. At that time, THH requested a confirmation of IGNITE/ODU’s decision on the June opening of the Food Pantry before the end of May.
On May 31st, THH was informed by IGNITE/ODU that the decision was made not to open the Food Pantry until September, 2016. THH at this time wishes IGNITE/ODU the best and much success in the opening of the Food Pantry in the fall; and we are presently looking for other opportunities to partner with organizations that want to start a food pantry to help with food insecurities.
